올해로 12회를 맞이하는 국제 도자예술 행사 「2024경기도자비엔날레」는 《투게더_몽테뉴의 고양이(TOGETHER_Montaigne's Cat)》를 주제로 ‘함께 살아간다는 것’의 의미를 생각해 보는 본전시, 특별전시, 워크숍, 학술행사와 오감과 감성을 충족시키는 다양한 부대행사 및 경기도 곳곳에서 이뤄지는 협력행사를 함께 즐길 수 있습니다.
2024 경기도자비엔날레 주제
현대사회에서 ‘경제, 정치, 종교, 문화적으로 서로 다른 사람들과 함께 살아가는 일은 중요한 과제 가운데 하나입니다. 주제인 '투게더'는 단순한 협력이 아닌, “내가 고양이와 놀고 있으면서, 사실은 그 고양이가 나와 놀고 있는 것이 아니라는걸 내가 어찌 알겠는가?”라는 프랑스 철학가 미셀 드 몽테뉴(Michel de Montaigne)의 고양이를 통해 바라본 깊이 있는 투게더(협력)를 의미합니다. 올해 비엔날레 행사에서 그동안 수많은 인종과 민족, 오랜 역사를 연결해 온 '도자'라는 매체를 통해 서로 다른 사람들과 함께 살아가기 위한 우리 ‘삶의 토대’를 어떻게 만들어 나갈지에 대해 상상하고, 공감하며 실천하는 계기가 마련되기를 희망합니다.

The ‘Gyeonggi Ceramics Biennale 2024,’ celebrating its 12th year, is an international ceramic art event with the theme “TOGETHER_Montaigne’s Cat.” It includes a main exhibition, special exhibitions, workshops, academic events exploring the meaning of ‘living together,’ various side events that satisfy the five senses and emotions, and cooperative events held throughout Gyeonggi Province.

TOGETHER_Montaigne’s Cat
In modern society, living together with people who are economically, politically, religiously, and culturally different is one of the important challenges. The theme “TOGETHER” refers to a deep sense of collaboration, inspired by the French philosopher Michel de Montaigne’s reflection: “When I am playing with my cat, how do I know that she is not playing with me rather than I with her?” This year’s biennale event aims to imagine, empathize, and practice how we can build the foundation of our lives to live together with diverse people through the medium of ceramics, which has connected numerous races and ethnicities over a long history.
